Valira Torrent - bulletin of the Andorran Philatelic Study Circle. Issue 48, p5 (Oct 1998).
At the AGM on 25th April a member displayed and example of the rare Encamp type 1 cancellation of 1931 (illustrated). Some discussion followed as to the relevance of the figure "7" in the left margin. Alec Jacques writes:
"The repro has enabled me to determine that this stamp is from plate G of cylinder G+H. I am now certain that this is indeed the Presse Number '7' - but what I am still not able to fathom is why it is in the left margin of the sheet instead of its usual place in the central gutter between the panes. I have it in this position in my collection but on the day of the meeting I could not bring to mind the Presse No. and I knew I'd not seen it where it is on your example. The only thing one sometimes sees in this lower left margin is ghosting of the sheet number being repeated in the margin - I don't know of the reason for this either."
Any further comment from readers would be most welcome.
